Hypnotherapy
What is Hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is short-term therapy for long-term issues. The hypnosis process involves guided relaxation combined with intense concentration to achieve an elevated state of awareness, also known as a hypnotic state. Once achieved you begin to feel a sense of enlightenment surrounding problem areas in your life and can then begin your own transformational journey.
How does it work?
The hypnotic state bypasses your ego which is designed to protect you but often falls short in the long run. Resultant from this bypass, your thoughts and concerns otherwise prevalent in your life are temporarily blocked allowing you to focus on the task at hand; identifying and confronting your unresolved issues. Hypnotherapy allows people to explore painful thoughts, feelings and emotions, often memories that are repressed from the conscious mind. By doing so you can process these until they are no longer of concern or gain a different perspective that makes you more able and willing to cope.
What is it used for?
While the uses of hypnotherapy are endless, the primary uses for majority of clients are implementing behavioural change and determining root causes of things affecting them negatively in their life. Most commonly people use hypnotherapy to:
-
Identify and process trauma
-
Reduce stress & anxiety
-
Reduce depression
-
Eradicate fears & phobias
-
Resolve sleep disorders
-
Process grief
-
Evolve spiritually
-
Find purpose
-
Regain confidence
-
Quit bad habits such as smoking or overeating
-
Reduce physical pain
Ultimately the goal of any individual undertaking hypnotherapy is to improve their current life, to be happier, healthier or less constrained. Some clients even do hypnotherapy purely for the significant relaxation or curiosity. This open-minded approach has, in some cases, allowed people to identify issues that they were not even aware of; the subsequent improvement to their life being quite the pleasant result.
Will I be awake?
You will be in a very relaxed state of mind, a dream-like state, fully aware and you are always in control. You only fall asleep if you’re really, really tired and it’s what your body needs.

Is it effective on everyone?
While hypnotherapy it is not effective on every individual, it is effective on the large majority. It depends on your level of susceptibility to hypnosis as well as your desire to make the positive change you are considering. The question you need to ask yourself is ‘what do I have to lose’, and when you come to the realisation that there is nothing to lose you will also realise you have everything to gain, be it quality of life gains or financial gains from quitting a costly habit.

How many sessions do I need?
This varies on the complexity of the issue, your desire to improve your life and your susceptibility to hypnosis. Some issues can be solved in as little as one session, others require a more comprehensive approach. Take the quiz here to see what your ideal program will look like.
